what our project participants say

case studies – meet Dorine and Martin

Dorine from Kenya

Dorine, 36 years old, originally completed a commercial education in tourism in Kenya. After this she decided to follow her passion for fashion and created her own label where she could sell her proper designs. She wanted to study fashion design in Germany, but her high school certificate from Kenya was not recognized as an Abitur here in Berlin. Dorine developed a professional perspective with the help of Ayekoo and was able to gain professional experience in the field of fashion. In doing this her prerequisites for studies under the Berlin Higher Education Access Act are fulfilled. Meanwhile Dorine studies fashion design at the HTW.

Martin from Canada

Martin, 50 years old, Canadian with Irish passport, studied film and English literature in North America and has lived permanently in Berlin since 2003. For Martin working as an artist exclusively and earning money can be difficult to manage. AYEKOO helped to fulfill both wishes. Martin works as an artist, has exhibitions and was an important part of our artist projects »Walk of Fame« and »Welcome to Pankow«. He works part-time in a music club for almost two years already.
